Weight loss: an outcome, not a behaviour

Weight loss (body mass reduction) is not a behaviour, it is an outcome - it is therefore not under your direct control.

People (myself included) tend to set weight loss as a goal.

In reality it would be more beneficial to focus on changes in your every day behaviour as a goal.

Focus on what you can control:

- Exercise: get 150-300 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic exercise along with 2-3 resistance exercise sessions per week

- Nutrition: eat a balanced diet within moderation - eat until you are 80% "full"

- Non-exercise activity thermogenesis: expend more energy in your every day activities, avoid sedentary behaviour

Consistency in your behaviour is key.
