Negative Visualisation

Negative visualisation. What is it? Are we not supposed to think positively?

It is a tool accredited to the philosophical field of Stoicism.

Imagine things that could go wrong in your life.

Imagine the worst thing that could go wrong.

Imagine losing what and who is dearest to you.

Visualise how this would feel.

Sounds morbid, I know, but this is a helpful tool to prepare us for life's inevitable setbacks and build gratitude for what we have.

A rehearsal in the worst that could happen.

This enables you to better appreciate what you have.

The world owes you nothing, and everything you have is borrowed.

You cannot take it with you when you go.

So enjoy it.
